The MDOC facility directory identifies New Way Transitional Facilities #1 as transitional housing in Mendenhall. It is not a booking jail, prison, or source of a county recent-release list. The directory's presence establishes an official program location, not that a named person lives there. It also does not establish complete discharge from MDOC or the end of supervision.

A person may move from an MDOC institution into structured housing while on parole or earned-release supervision. ERS means earned-release supervision, a status under which an eligible person can live outside an institution but remains under MDOC jurisdiction. Parole likewise permits community placement under terms set by the state process. Complete discharge is different. It is best shown by the final discharge certificate or order and the end of any supervision term.

5. Contact the Mendenhall Probation and Parole Office for routing when Simpson County supervision is indicated.
6. Request the movement history, Board action, time-computation record, or discharge certificate when public screens do not resolve status.

MDOC policy says it responds in writing within seven working days and ordinarily produces records within fourteen working days after request and payment, unless more time is needed. Copies are listed at 15 cents per page, with qualified staff time above one hour and possible technology or mailing costs. Sensitive records and field-officer files may be exempt. Ask for segregable nonexempt portions and a citation for any withholding.

New Way Transitional Facilities #1 is an MDOC-listed transitional housing provider in Simpson County, operated by New Way Mississippi, Inc. Research does not supply a capacity, construction date, roster, release schedule, or public resident list. None should be inferred. Its value in a release search is as a possible post-institution setting that must be verified through the proper official status channels.

The public MDOC detail uses the exact label "Tentative Release Date." It is the anticipated institutional release after time adjustments, not a certificate that release occurred. Maximum discharge refers to the expected sentence end absent early allowances. Parole, ERS, institutional movement, supervision start, and final discharge can all have different dates.

Mississippi's earned-time provisions do not create one safe percentage for a named person. Eligibility, offense and sentence dates, minimum-service rules, court credit, discipline, detainers, and release-plan approval can alter the calculation. MDOC computes the date. For proof of actual release, request the movement record and discharge certificate if one applies.

New Way Status Versus Old Sites

Old web results can suggest that the Simpson Technical Violation Center or Community Work Center remains active in Magee. That can distort a release search. MDOC reported in 2018 that Simpson Technical Violation Center operations moved to Delta Correctional Facility. The current directory does not list a Simpson Community Work Center.

Neither historical name should be treated as a present placement or release destination. New Way Transitional Facilities #1 is the current transitional-housing entry identified in the Simpson facility map. When a dated article names another site, verify the publication date and obtain a current MDOC custody-location history before drawing a conclusion.

New Way Supervision Evidence

The Mississippi State Parole Board is distinct from MDOC's day-to-day community supervision. Its rules provide no public hearing calendar or searchable decisions database. Hearings are closed, and decisions are disclosed case by case. For an official parole action, request the final action or minute for the named person and relevant date.

Compare the Board action date with MDOC's physical movement record and supervision start. A grant can precede actual release while planning or holds remain unresolved. When the reported status is ERS or probation rather than parole, the parolee search may not answer the question. Obtain the specific MDOC record instead of forcing every post-prison placement into a parole label.

A parolee-search hit confirms the status recorded when the system responds. It does not show every prior placement and does not by itself prove that New Way is the person's present address. Request the official action, actual movement entry, and public supervision confirmation for the time being checked. If the person completed the term, the discharge certificate or final order is stronger than an inference drawn from disappearance from a search result.

Several alerts may follow a rapid movement. Save the contributing agency and time shown, then request its source record. SAVIN is a notification path, not a certified placement history, and its event wording should not be changed into a claim of complete discharge.

The provider's directory phone is suitable for public program and access questions. Legal status belongs with MDOC, the local community corrections office, or the Parole Board.
